From August 6 to September 30, 2022, Core Contemporary Gallery hosts its 4th annual national juried art exhibition, Use Other Door, at Core Contemporary Gallery. This new exhibition is a judged collection of contemporary art submitted by talented artists from across the country. The exhibit is free and open to the public Wednesdays through Saturdays, from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. The gallery will be hosting several in-person and online events, including the opening reception on Saturday, August 6th, 6-8pm, artists' talks to be scheduled, along with a closing reception to be held Saturday, September 30th, 6-8pm
Use Other Door invited artists to submit contemporary work that represented their interpretation of what their “other door” might be. As the call description stated, this “other door” might be something as literal as choosing between two or more physical doors to gain access to something. Or, it could represent something intangible, such as a missed opportunity, conquering a fear, pursuing a dream or abandoning a goal.
“Use Other Door provides an opportunity for artists to approach their creative techniques and mediums in a way that maybe they haven't in the past,” said Nancy Good, juror, professional artist, and owner of Core Contemporary. “As a juror and the creator of this annual show, I was pleased to see the varied submissions to this fourth incarnation, from talented beginners to established professional artists with MFAs.”
Joining Good as juror was Las Vegas visual and performance artist, Clarice Tara Cuda. Cuda's own work explores themes quite similar to that of this exhibition.
Selected from close to 100 separate submissions, Use Other Door is a vibrant, dynamic and expressive exhibition featuring sculpture, photography, assemblage, painting, and mixed-media by 27 artists from around the country.
